Yogi of the Month - October

Thank you Dawn for sharing your vibrant smile and personality with us at Be Still Yoga! I am grateful you decided to join our community and keep me on my toes while teaching!

Read about Dawn's journey:

How long have you been doing yoga (what's your yoga journey)?

I started doing yoga for about a year before the Pandemic and then classes were canceled. I really enjoyed yoga and missed it as part of my weekly routine. So this March, after another long Wisconsin winter, I decided to sign up for the new membership opportunity to attend unlimited classes for a month. I had been hearing such great things about Beth and Be Still Yoga, so I thought I would give it a try.

What is your favorite class & why?

It is so hard to pick a favorite. One of the things I love the most about Be Still Yoga are the variety of classes that Beth offers. They each provide their own special fit for my overall health and fitness goals. I enjoy the "Gentle" classes-Yoga and Strength (though I have often teased Beth that sometimes Gentle Strength classes are not so gentle!) Fitness Fusion has really helped push me to get stronger. Each class is so different, they keep body and mind always working together. And being one of the more senior members, this is a very good thing!

What is your favorite yoga pose?

I think I would have to say Standing Forward Fold (Uttanasana.) Forward Folds are considered calming, soothing, and introspective. The pose helps to stretch out tight muscles and release tension from the back, shoulders, and neck. These are the places I seem to carry the most stress, so I look "forward" to Forward Fold poses during class. 😊

What keeps you coming back to yoga?

So many reasons! First of all the warm and welcoming environment Beth provides. She does such an amazing job of making everyone feel comfortable and connected. The other yogis are all so friendly and kind. It is a place where I enjoy the atmosphere as much as I do the physical work.

What would you tell someone who is considering trying yoga?

Please, do give yoga a try. There is a spot waiting for you at Be Still Yoga. Beth is an excellent guide no matter where you are in your practice.

Share some of your hobbies, your favorite things to do, or something unique about you.

My interests include yoga (of course), hiking, biking, reading, traveling, spending time with family, and classic supper clubs.
